September 12, 2013 - The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which hears patent lawsuit appeals, suggested that a federal district judge in Chicago may have gone too far in dismissing Apple's and Motorola Mobility's patent infringement lawsuit last year.

Apple and Motorola are both requesting that the lawsuit be reopened and allowed to proceed. In that suit, Apple is suing Motorola for allegedly infringing four patents used in Motorola's Droid smartphones and Xoom tablet, and Motorola is countersuing Apple for allegedly infringing 18 patents via its MobileMe and App Store products.
