Trounson Automation Settles Lawsuit with Yaskawa Electric

GPC Represented Trounson Automation in this Transaction

June 8, 2006 - General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading IP licensing and enforcement firm headquartered in Suffern, New York, announced today that it has settled on behalf of its client, Trounson Automation LLC (Trounson), a patent infringement lawsuit against Yaskawa Electric Corporation of Japan and Yaskawa Electric America of Illinois (Yaskawa). GPC represents Trounson in the licensing and enforcement of its patent.

GPC brought suit against Yaskawa on behalf of Trounson in August of 2005, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The parties ultimately agreed to amicably settle the dispute.

US Patent No. 5,926,389, "Computer Control System for Generating Geometric Designs", the patent-in-suit, covers a machine tool servo control system requiring only a single active processor.

"We are happy to have reached an amicable settlement for our client," said Paul Lerner, GPC's Sr. Vice President and General Counsel, "and we thank Blair Jacobs, Bob Gutkin and Rob Walters at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan for vigorously prosecuting this case in court."

"I am very pleased with the results of this law suit," said James Trounson, the inventor of the patent-in-suit. "I look forward to working with General Patent in the future to license the technology we developed throughout the industry."
