General Patent Corporation Names Paul J. Lerner Senior VP & General Counsel

SUFFERN, NY, February 1, 2000 - General Patent Corporation, an intellectual property licensing company, has named Paul J. Lerner Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Prior to joining GPC Mr. Lerner, 53, was a partner in the 65-lawyer Connecticut firm of Pepe & Hazzard, LLP.

Mr. Lerner has headed intellectual property law departments at Olin Corp., Black & Decker Corp. and multi-national electrical construction company Asea Brown Boveri, Inc. Prior to his distinguished law career, Mr. Lerner was a project manager at the Illinois Institute of Technology Research in Chicago, where he managed the technology transfer and technology forecasting team.

Mr. Lerner received his B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering form Purdue University, an M.B.A. from Loyola University and a J.D. from DePaul University. He pursued post-graduate studies in intellectual property at the John Marshall College of Law. He is currently adjunct professor of intellectual property at the University of New Haven.
