General Patent Corporation Names Ed Gomez Chief IP Counsel

SUFFERN, N.Y., November 12, 2008 - General Patent Corporation (GPC), a leading patent licensing and enforcement firm, announced today that it has named Ed Gomez to the position of Chief IP Counsel.

Prior to joining GPC, Mr. Gomez was President of Furnace Brook LLC, a patent licensing and enforcement company. At Furnace Brook, Mr. Gomez negotiated over 80 licenses and oversaw several litigations that resulted in favorable settlements. Prior to forming Furnace Brook in 2002, Mr. Gomez was a partner at Pennie & Edmonds LLP where his practice included patent litigation, counseling and licensing in a wide variety of technologies including telecommunications, semiconductor manufacture, circuit design, optics, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Gomez has acted as trial counsel in patent matters before several of the Federal Courts including District Courts in California, Connecticut, New York and Virginia, as well as the International Trade Commission.

Mr. Gomez received his J.D. from Georgetown University in 1995 and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Columbia University in 1988.
