General Patent Corporation Licenses Patents to Conexant

SUFFERN, NY, December 21, 1999 - Acticon Technologies, a division of General Patent Corporation, has entered into a licensing agreement with Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNXT), Newport Beach, CA. The licenses are for four of Acticon Technologies's patents covering specific aspects of PC card modems and other computer communications devices.

Under the terms of the agreement, Conexant agreed to license the Acticon Technologies' patents on a non-exclusive basis. "We initiated a dialog with Rockwell in 1998," said Alexander Poltorak, GPC's chairman and CEO. "After the spin off of Conexant from Rockwell, we were quickly able to reach a licensing agreement," he added. Acticon Technologies, a division of General Patent Corporation, owns a portfolio of patents related to computer connectivity and data communications.

Acticon's award-winning technology that has been licensed to Conexant is based on the U.S. Patent Nos. 4,603,320 ("Connector Interface"), 4,686,506 ("Multiple Connector Interface"), 4,972,470 ("Programmable Connector") and 4,543,450 ("Integrated Connector and Modem").
